As I was inquiring about what to share with you today, the Lord brought me back to this piece I wrote a few months ago. Sometimes the very same words the Holy Spirit instructs us to share with the world, is the very same words that will serve us as encouragement.
Have you ever thought about how you respond to opposition? Most of us give in, and give up, when faced with a little resistance. We convert to a defeated mindset, and quit. We think that pursuing a dream, or working towards a goal, is supposed to be easy. Often times, we become self defeated. We defeat ourselves before even trying. We get stuck in a “what if” mindset. What if it doesn’t work? What if I fail? What if no one listens? What if people don’t support me? These are all thoughts that amount to nothing but wasted time. They devalue our courage, and willingness to try. That way of thinking, forces you to place your faith in yourself, leaving no room for you to trust God, for the results. They make you tremble at the thought of rejection. Those kind of thoughts also force you to stay inside of your comfort zone, where nothing ever grows. It’s amazing how our thoughts shape our reality. We have to reprogram our way of thinking. Instead of entertaining thoughts of defeat, we should start entertaining thoughts of victory. It will work. I will not fail. People will listen. People will support me. I’m a willing vessel, trusting God, to acknowledge my work. Not everyone will understand your vision. Everyone will not support you, and everyone is not going to appreciate your gifts. The one thing that I do know, is that opposition, builds character, if you allow it to. It forces you to see beyond the things that are in front of you. It forces you to see the possibilities. It gives you more drive. It increases your faith. It forces you to prove fear wrong. So Today, I encourage you to look beyond where you currently are. Keep trying, keep working, and don’t give up. If you never go, you’ll never know what things are possible. If you don’t try, you have everything to lose. There is a world full of people who need what you have. Go forth, make it count, choose not to be defeated by your thoughts, and you “WILL” win.
