Who’s Job Is It Anyway?

There was an important job to be done. Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

We all have a part to do. If we continue to wait on others to do the things that we see need to be done, we’ll be waiting forever. Be encouraged, and take that first step. Some days will be harder than others, and you will have to work hard on purpose. However, at the end of the day, when you lay your head on your pillow, you’ll be able to say, I overcame the opposition, and I stepped forth. May you be bold, and courageous, go forth, and do what you know in your heart needs to be done.

The Overcomer

IMG_7467We have all read the amazing stories of people who overcame the adversities in their life. The stories that left you wondering how they were able to make it through so much opposition. I’m pretty sure if you were to look back over your life, you too will see that you are an over-comer. You’ve been through things in life, that you dare not speak of. You’ve fought battles that you wouldn’t wish upon your worst enemy. Some of us have been used, mistreated, abused, and stripped of our confidence; but we survived.  We can’t always choose the cards we are dealt in life, but we can choose how we’ll play them. Often times we choose the lesser, because we feel as though we didn’t get a good start in life. The inadequacies of our past, somehow overshadow, the possibilities, of our future. In order to move forward in life, we have to have the courage, to acknowledge our adversities. We have to be willing to meet fear, face to face. We have to meet the brokenness, face to face. We have to meet our mental battles, face to face. We have to let all of those adversities in our lives, know, that we will not be defeated. We are overcomers. We won’t give in. We won’t quit. We won’t stop fighting. We will hold our heads, high. We will fight the good fight of faith. We are not failures. We are not our past, and we do not walk alone. The God of angel armies, walks with us. He is God of the hills, and valleys. You are a warrior. You are brave. Continue to fight the good fight, and look to the heavens. The Heavenly Father walks with you, and has placed people in your path, that will join hands with you. I pray that you will continue to face, and conquer, those adversities in your life. May the King of glory continue to shower you with his grace, strengthen you in your times of weakness, and give you the courage to overcome.

Damaged Goods

There once was a girl, who thought her life was beyond repair. On the outside she seemed to have it all together. Many nights she would look at the sky, and wonder if God really saw her. She wondered if He saw her scars, bruises, and tears. She wondered if He knew all the things she had gone through, and how those things had left her damaged. Feelings of unworthiness, low self-esteem, guilt, and shame, made her feel as though she was beyond repair. Little did she know, He saw her all along. He heard every prayer, wiped every tear, and was mending her broken heart. He was binding her wounds, and healing her bruises. He was transforming her into a trophy of grace.

So many of us can relate to that story. We’ve been in places in our lives where we’ve been bruised. We’ve experienced brokenness, and we’ve shed tears. We’ve prayed prayers, and wondered, if God was even listening. We’ve wondered if He truly saw us. Beautiful soul, He sees, and hears, you. He knows the things that burden you. He knows all about the things that makes you cry. He knows what keeps you up at night. He knows the details of everything you’ve gone through. He is a healer, and our keeper. There is nothing like the grace that He pours upon our lives. He invites us to sit at his feet, and rest in His presence. He “WILL” take you as you are, scars, and all, and turn you into a trophy of grace. He wants your life to be a testimony of His power, and truth, to every ear that will listen. Life is so much more than what you are seeing. I pray that you would search your heart, let down your guard, and remove your mask. Allow Jesus to touch your heart, and heal your wounds. He is faithful, and He loves you more than anything. I am a testimony of His goodness. I know the power of the cross, and am a recipient of His grace. That girl in that short story was me. So, to every ear that will listen, to every heart that will believe, you are not beyond repair, you’re just damaged. He is willing, and able, to transform every aspect of your life, and transform you into a trophy of grace. He is able, He is willing, & He is waiting.

I Surrender

With hands raised, falling tears, and a broken heart, I cried out from the depth of my soul, for God to take the driver seat in my life. A little over a decade ago, I found myself in the darkest place of my life. I was lost, confused, and broken. For so long, I tried so hard to do things on my own. I knew God was there, but I had placed Him in the passenger seat, because I thought I knew best. Thankfully today, He has healed my heart of pride, by showering me with mercy, grace, and forgiveness.  He has set the course of my life on a new path. A path of purpose, and hope. A path that allows me to serve others, and tell them about His transformation power, and goodness.

We have all carried a heavy burden in our lives. Although our stories may be different, it does not change the fact that we all need saving. Often times, we choose to do things on our own. We think that we know what’s best, and completely place God in the passenger seat. We burden ourselves with unnecessary burdens, because we neglected to listen to His voice. When we turn a blind eye to His instructions, we will often times find ourselves burned out, lost, and confused. If this is your story, like it was mine, there is good news. The good news is that you can let God take the diver seat in your life. His ways, and plans, are good, and better than our own. You don’t have to be afraid of losing yourself, because you will find so much more in Him. Surrender every dream, every thought, every burden, and your future to Him. He is the master of art. He will take your blank canvas, and create a beautiful master piece. I know that He has amazing things for your life. Go to Him in humility, unmasked, and surrender all. He already knows your heart, but, he is waiting for you.

The Best Is Yet To Come

I know that you have been working hard on the vision that’s in your heart. I know that sometimes you battle with the negative thoughts in your head, that tell you that its easier to quit. I know that frustration sometimes gets the best of you, when it feels like you are constantly fighting an up hill battle. I also know that every sacrifice you are making right now, will soon blossom into something more than you could have ever imagined. When we are going to the process, it’s not always easy to see where we’re headed. Sometimes our vision gets blurred, and we get discouraged. We look around, and wonder what we’re doing wrong. If you’re like me, you get distracted sometimes, and try to jump ahead of God, because you think you know a much better way. As I was reminded this morning, I’ll also remind you, “The best is yet to come.” I know that you have probably heard this saying before, but it is true. There can’t be a harvest, if you don’t plant a seed, and a seed, will not produce, if you don’t water it. Maybe your nights are long, and your mornings are early right now. Maybe you are working on your vision, with any spare time, you have left after a long work day. Whatever seeds you are planting right now, they will produce a harvest. The heavenly Father sees, and will acknowledge your work. Continue to take the gifts, and talents that he has given you, and do your part. He will multiply what you have in due time. He is able to do what we think will take a lifetime, with the snap of a finger. Be faithful to your gifts, and the vision that He has given you. When you grow weary, call on Him for strength, and think about how far you have come. He knows your heart, and sees you. You have come to far to quit now, and there is a world full of people, who need what you have to offer. We are all on our own journeys, but we don’t have to travel alone. Continue to be your best, and do your best. As you grow, help others grow also. As you thrive, teach others to thrive. As you receive encouragement, give encouragement to others. Keep looking to heaven, serving others, praying, and moving forward because, “Your Best Is Yet To Come My Friend”

Recovering What Was Lost

When life happens, what do you do? When your passions lose their flame, how do you reignite it? When all hope seems lost, and you find yourself losing faith, how do you recover? Often times in life, we find ourselves feeling stuck. We feel hopeless because of unfortunate events that may have transpired in our lives. Maybe you tried so hard to accomplish something, and it just didn’t work out the way you planned. Maybe you have been laboring on your dream, and it seems like things are just not progressing the way you hoped. Maybe you didn’t get a good start, and you feel like that’s the end of your story. Whatever that thing is that you feel is lost, can be recovered. Yes! your hope, and faith, can be restored. Your dreams can be restored. Your courage, and strength can be restored also. When we look past the negative experiences that have happened to us, and see them as lessons learned, we have the ability to turn them into positive energy. We began to see things that transpire in our lives not so much as failures, or set backs, but as lessons learned. I personally prefer to call them “better plans.” I don’t know what the future holds for me, but God does. I can’t see where the decisions that I thought was great would lead me, but God can. When I changed my perspective, it changed the way I felt about the detours in my life. Instead of losing hope, when things didn’t go my way, I began to thank God for saving me from the things I cannot see in the future. We don’t know what Gods plan is, but we have to know that his plan for our lives is good. In fact, its way better than what we think is good. So, when you find yourself feeling discouraged, hopeless, and at the end of your rope, ask God to give you a new vision. Ask him to help you see beyond what’s in front of you. Thank him for saving you from the things in which you cannot see. He is faithful, and will restore all things that appear to be broken in your life. I pray that your hope is restored, your faith increased, and you see your dreams as possible.

Praying For A Breakthrough

How many times have you prayed for a breakthrough in your life? I’m sure we all have, and many of us may be believing, and praying for a breakthrough right this moment. As I sat on my toddlers bedroom floor building blocks, and watching my five month old bouncing away in his bouncy, I could not stop thinking about the many things I had to accomplish today. I found myself asking God to help me be in the moment. To be honest, I needed an immediate breakthrough. I needed to not be so concerned about the list of things I needed to get done, and simply appreciate the irreplaceable time spent with my little ones. As I prayed my prayer, He immediately spoke to my heart. “Put down your phone,” and “close your laptop.” Although that was the last thing that I wanted to do, I knew it was the answer to my prayer in that moment. Although it did not feel good to hear that, I knew it was the cause of my distraction, and wondering mind. Although it wasn’t easy, almost immediately after I followed His instructions, my wondering mind was able to focus.

So many times in our lives, we pray, and God gives us the answer, but we don’t listen. We don’t listen because the answer that we received does not feel good to us, so we assume that it’s not God speaking. Everything that the Heavenly Father instructs us to do, is not always going to feel good, or make us happy. He seeks to transform our hearts, and show us truth. Not only should we pray for God to fix things in our lives, but we should also pray for God to show us the truth. Maybe it’s us that needs to be fixed, not what we perceive as the problem. Lets all commit to doing a better job of praying for truth, instead of being so focused on praying our problems away. Lets pray for God to give us new vision, so that we can see things from his perspective. God is good, and his goodness will never be defined by our circumstances.

It Is Written

We all know that the bible is our ( Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth). We also know that it is a source of help, and where we learn, grow, and build a stronger faith. Although we know these things, often times we find ourselves not following the instructions that are written. We worry about the future, and stress ourselves out over things that may not even happen. We allow our minds to become consumed with negative thoughts, which convert to negative emotions. We allow our untamed mind, will, and emotions, to run us rampant. Over the years, and throughout my faith walk, I have come to understand that having faith, does not mean we won’t have negative thoughts. Having faith does not mean that we won’t doubt from time to time, and it definitely does not mean we won’t face various trials in life. What faith means, is that we have complete faith, trust, and confidence, that everything will work out for us. It means that we have confidence in the Heavenly Father, and the instructions that He has given us. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan, he converted back to what was already written. He started every response with,”It is written.” How awesome would it be if we would just use those three simple words, followed by a scripture for every negative thought, and situation in our lives. It is written, that I shall live and not die. It is written, that man shall not live on bread alone. It is written that your plans for me are good. It is written that I am the head and not the tail. It is written, that I am the light of the world. It is written, that you will fight my battles. It is written, that I will soar on wings like eagles. We have to start using the tools, and instructions that the Heavenly Father has given us not only as our hope, but as a weapon for the battle ground of our minds. Be encouraged, and know that the Heavenly Father loves, and desires for you to have a blessed life. He desires for you to live unburdened. He has great plans for your life. Everything that you experience, good, or bad, will work in your favor. How do I know these things you ask? Because “IT IS WRITTEN!”

Finding Hope In The Process

What if I told you that it is possible to maintain happiness, and gratitude, while being faced with tough times? what if I told you that your circumstances play a role in how you feel, but your perspective plays a much bigger role? Often times we look at the things that are going wrong in our lives, which often times cause us to feel the negative emotions of our circumstances, or situation. It is very rare that we take the time to re-focus our attention on the things that are going good for us. Just like making a hot cup of coffee in the morning is a process, so is it with life. It is very rare that we taste the coffee before it’s finished brewing. However, as the coffee is brewing, the aroma fills the air, and you become hopeful as the smell builds the anticipation of what the first sip will taste like. Finding hope is not always easy, but it is possible if we look. The question then becomes, where are we looking? Are we looking at the mountains that are ahead of us? are we making up non-existent problems because we just received unpleasant news? Most of the time we create problems in our minds by living in a what if mindset. What if this happens? What if that happens? This forces us to live is a false reality, and puts us on an emotional roller-coaster ride. It’s time to focus our attention on the things that are going good in our lives, rather than talking about, and focusing on the negative. No one is exempt from going through some sort of process in life, but we all have the option to find, and choose hope. “Although your today may look hopeless, there is still time to find hope for tomorrow.” As you go about your day, ask God to help you shift your perspective. Ask him to help you see what he sees. After all, he tells us in his word to not burden ourselves with the cares of tomorrow, but to instead focus on the present. When we start to see the present as a gift, then we will truly see how blessed we really are.

Daily Verse

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

You Deserve Better

So often, we go through life not truly knowing our worth. Most people measure their worth by their past experiences. Maybe they were in a bad relationship where they were mistreated. Some people even experience an unhealthy childhood where they were verbally abused by their parents. Whatever the situation is, it shapes our perspective of who we believe ourselves to be. This was my story for more than a decade of my life. A mixture of bad relationships, and an unhealthy childhood shaped my perspective. I walked around polished on the outside, but broken on the inside. Walking around depressed and ashamed is not how our Heavenly Father wants us to be.  We have to come to a point where we realize we are not all of the lies people have told us. We are not those abusive relationships, nor our unfortunate childhood. We also have to realize that we can only acknowledge our past, and embrace our futures. Sometimes being positive, and overcoming past hurts is easier said than done, lets be honest. You have to know that you deserve better, and God desires to give you better.

Renewing our minds to Gods truths about us is a process. You may be at a point in your life where you feel like you are out of options. You may have had to deal with an unfortunate situation that has left you broken, and confused. Know that our Heavenly Father is the mender of broken hearts. He restores the things that were taken from us. He upholds us when we feel weak and weary. When He went to the cross, He knew that you were worth it. He has already given you the victory, you just have to believe it. You have to get to a point where you believe that you deserve to be happy. You deserve to be loved. You deserve to be treated with respect. You deserve to have a mind of peace. Understanding who you are, and who’s you are has the ability to change your perspective. Know that you are a child of the most high God. Our Heavenly Father has our best interest, and will never fail us. Today, pick up your head, stand tall, and walk in the confidence knowing that you deserve better.

My Prayer

Father, help us to renew our minds so that we can overcome our past hurts. Open our eyes so that we can view the cross as an example of our worth. Restore minds to peace, and mend the broken hearted. Give us the confidence to continue to walk in the victory that you have already given to us.

Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
